Scariest Movie Masks

Forget about super hero masks for Halloween, those are too mainstream already. How about a scary mask prop from a popular movie such as World War Z or Scream? Now that’s what you call a scary Halloween mask. Nothing could be scarier than you in a real movie prop mask, you would probably get twice as much candy as you used to because of your mask. Kudos to these scary movies, a lot of popular movie masks have become so popular for Halloween. Below are some of the best ones of all time: Dr. Hannibal Lecter’s restrictive mouthpiece – who could forget the iconic mask of Dr, Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs? Now that mouthpiece was created especially for him to avoid him randomly biting people’s ears off when he was in jail. Now that’s scary and iconic. Clockwork Orange’s Alex with his phallic mask – A Clockwork Orange is a disturbing enough movie, what with all the violence and gruesome violence that the main character and his droogs go around with, the movie alone was scary as it is. With one of it’s unforgettable scenes wherein they randomly break into a man’s house and rape his wife, the main character Alex wears this disturbing and phallic half mask with a nose looking like a man’s crotch. Seems comical if you think of it, but once you see it you’ll just border to creepy. World War Z’s zombie scientist mask – most recently the exciting and suspenseful movie World War Z has become known and popular for its uncharacteristically fast and strong zombies. What with the scene of Brad Pitt trying to get into a lab with all the medication that he aims on getting, the scary zombie scientist in it makes the scene so unforgettable. Donnie Darko’s nightmarish bunny in a mask – aside from the fact that this teenage boy’s nightmarish character is already dressed in a onesie bunny costume, could it even get more disturbing on account of it wearing an equally horrific bunny mask? You wouldn’t want to be at the end of the world with this guy because all he sees are these creepy masks that sound so innocent at first but grotesque and disturbing once you see it. With all these movie masks to choose from, how can you not plan for the perfectly scary Halloween? Get out of your comfort zone and release the inner scary person in...

Monster Fish

Aquatic animals often make us wonder what life is underneath the ocean. We really have fascination on the many living species that dominate the sea. Even in the land before time, we humans have constantly tickled our brains in believing that there are magical creatures that reside in the ocean. Not only do we believe that these creatures are magical, we also think that they contain certain powers that could grant every wish that we have or that these aquatic creatures have ‘superhuman’ characteristics to lure or deceive people. Such stories have go on and on and on for so many generations, passed from one parent to his or her children and on to the next kin. There are various legends in the world about creatures that dominate the undersea. Such stories vary from one place to another or from one culture to the next. I know you have heard of stories about mermaids that fascinate many children the world over, thanks to Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” or of Legend in Europe about the monster in Loch Ness. But I bet you would agree, that even if these stories are confabulation of creative minds, there is in no way that it will ever stop; because as much as the stories are terrifying, they also fascinate and tickle the brains of the people listening. Would you agree that the only place on the face of the Earth that is not overly studied by humans is the ocean? I bet you would. Just recently, a picture of gigantic fish got viral in the internet. If you have not seen it, just imagine 3 well- built, 6-foot men having difficulty carrying a monster fish that beached on one of the shores that they are having picnic at. The fish looks out of this world, like something that aliens from Mars spawned on the ocean of the Earth. The fish is flat looking and long and is covered with dark patches all around its silver ‘skin’ (the fish seems to be devoid of scales). It has big eyes, the size of soda in can, and a face that seems to be stunted. The alien-looking fish that made many jaw-dropped is thankfully recorded by marine biologists and after all, is not alien spawn. It takes the name Herring king (because of course it is kingly in size), while others know it as belt-fish (more like an over sized belt, but more or less it looks like a belt). The fish is known to be commonly found in the Indian, Atlantic, and Pacific Ocean at depths of 300-1000 meters. So, the next time you go...

The Selfie Generation

We love to goof around with our friends and make fun of ourselves. That is a common fact that friends always do, and will do even if they become old. After all, goofing out is one way of promoting fun and laughter between friends. It is very heart warming to be sharing with friends, and also to other people who are dear to us, of the comic side of us. The situation makes us feel all too human. Goofing out gives us an adrenaline surge like we-don’t-care-what-others-think feeling. It is a very enjoying expression to let out the other side of our mask. Selfie. Yes, Hashtag Selfie. I know, you know what it means, and you are one guilty person of using such keyword in major social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Don’t be too guilty, but admit it, you have posted a thousand contorted pictures of your face just so you can share it to the rest of the world. Have you done it or have you not? Well, it has become a common trend for many young people over the internet to posts pictures of themselves, most especially their face. Such pictures would show the face taken in different angle (maybe from 0 degree angle to even 360 degree with the help of photoshop; pun intended) It has been dubbed that today’s generation is the selfie generation, where most youths are too drunk on themselves that all they could think of is to find ways on how they can artistically retort and showcase their faces for the world to see. The generation has become too narcissistic, thanks to the aid of modern technology. The cocktails of high end smartphones with 10-30 megapixel camera, the social networking sites, the photo-editing apps, and don’t forget the contorted face to complete the set, has make it easy for many to constantly flood the walls or timeline of their accounts with their faces. I don’t know what kind of pleasure it gives to those who are “selfie-addict,” but I’m sure there must be something to it that makes them “abuse” such “addiction.” In the age of computers and modernization, any person using the computer must hold on a responsibility of using it for the betterment of the world. If you use it for personal and self gain, it will bring you nowhere. There have been many reported cases already of stolen identity, and the common victims are people who love taking picture of themselves and posting on the sites. They easily fall prey to the modus operandi of those stealing pictures, because they let their identity/picture all for the...

2008 Needles Over the Head for Patriotism

How far will you go to modify your body? Have you seen a person change his facial features dramatically by placing all sorts of stuffs on it? Would you believe that certain people around the world can do excessive stuffs to change the features of their face? Yes, some people can do bizarre stuff just so they can promote something. There have been many instances where people get tattooed all over their body for the sake of making their skin look like a canvass of their arts, or to some extent some undergo surgery to make them look like their favorite animals. It is true that the world is full of people who can push their bodies to the limits just so they can push what they believe is right. In China, there is this man who made a bizarre stunt just so he can commemorate the forthcoming Beijing Olympic Games. Imagine placing 2008 needles in your face and body, and Voila! You get Dr. Wei Sheng who made a preposterous way of welcoming the Olympics. True enough, he was able to get a lot of media mileage because of his act. He becomes so popular even if the Olympic Games have not even started. He has proven that a Chinese patriotic fervor can go beyond normal limits. His act is one that is absurdly unbelievable. The shocking news of sticking 2008 needles in the head is not an unusual incident after all. Dr. Wei Sheng is notoriously known for doing such a thing; he even won an award from Guinness. He was able to do the bizarre thing even before, when he placed 1790 needles all over his head. The difference with what he did for the upcoming Olympics in China is 208 needles more. Indeed, the man has a high pain tolerance to show for his patriotism to his motherland. Though, I am not sure if his act is worthy of emulation, what I’m sure is that Dr. Wei Sheng is successful in making the world know how happy and proud he is that Olympics has arrived in China. How about you? Would you dare inflict pain on yourself just so you can tell the world how patriotic you are? There are probably a dozen ways to show your love for your country, but going through the painstaking hell of sticking needles on your body would only take the guts of a certain Wei Sheng. He is the master of his own art or move, and it takes a lot of courage and pain tolerance to do such a thing. If you try to mimic what he...

Longest Living Two-Faced Kitty

Although Frank and Louie is a pretty normal name for a cat, Frank and Louie are anything but normal. Because you see, Frank and Louie is only one cat but with two faces. Being a Janus cat, the term coming from the Roman god Janus who has two faces as well, Frank and Louie’s life expectancy was expected to be much shorter than a week or a few days. But this special cat defied all odds and lived happily for 12 long years. Now that’s what you call bottling up all his 9 lives, but since he’s got two faces, it’s safe to assume that he have 18 lives as well. The Guiness Book of World Records has finally recognized this amazing phenomena and named Frank and Louie as the longest living Janus cat ever to know in the world. The cat during the recognition by Guiness was actually 12 years old at that time. Who’s to say he can’t live younger? He is well cared for by his owner and he looks pretty great for a cat. He’s fluffy and he’s playful, only that he has 3 eyes, 2 noses, and 2 mouths, and 2 jaws as well. Frank and Louis original owner has brought the 1-day-old little kitten in a veterinary school hoping that someone could put him down, but seeing how unique and in badly need of attention this two-faced cat was, Marty Stevens right away brought home the cat and cared for him in any way possible. Today, Stevens just thanks god that everyday that Frank and Louie had for his life was a blessing to both of them. It’s unbelievable how this Janus cat could have survived despite his difficulty taking in food and seeing, on account of how the middle eye could not see but instead has eyes placed like that of a horse. Stevens say that most people that approach them don’t usually expect to find a deformity with Frank and Louie and they often just approach thinking of an adorable and fluffy cat but then as they look closely and notice the two faces, the look of surprise in their faces are priceless. Frank and Louie and itself is already a miracle judging by the fact that most Janus cats barely live out for a day or two, which makes him all the more worthy of being a record...
